Elizabeth G. Grimes is a senior litigation attorney at DeMayo Law Offices, L.L.P, and represents plaintiffs in cases involving serious bodily injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Mrs. Grimes received her B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in December of 1985, graduating a semester early, and received her law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1989. While in law school, Mrs. Grimes was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review and Moot Court Board, and a quarterfinalist in the Wake Forest Law School First Year Moot Court Competition, and recipient of the American Jurisprudence Book Award in Remedies.
Mrs. Grimes is admitted to practice before the North Carolina State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina since 1989, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina since 2010. Her professional affiliations include the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, North Carolina Bar Association, American Association for Justice, and Mecklenburg County Bar Association.
Mrs. Grimes enjoys a broad experience in practicing law and has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil actions. Prior to joining the DeMayo Law Offices in 2009, Mrs. Grimes was a director and shareholder with Tuggle Duggins & Meschan, PA (now Tuggle Duggins, PA), where she practiced for fifteen years representing hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice lawsuits, and representing insurance carriers and defendants in trucking and automobile accident lawsuits. Mrs. Grimes also defended employers in workers compensation claims, and was a Council Member of the North Carolina Bar Association Worker's Compensation Section 1999-2002.
In addition to her work as a civil trial attorney, Mrs. Grimes served as Adjunct Professor of Law at Wake Forest University School of Law in 2008; and was an Associate Adjunct Professor at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro 2004-2005.
Mrs. Grimes is rated AV Preeminent (5.0 of 5.0), the highest professional rating achievable from Martindale-Hubbell, a national organization that rates attorneys and law firms. Mrs. Grimes is married with two children and lives in Mecklenburg County. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, and playing golf when time permits.
